Our Story
Since opening in Slaithwaite in 2018, The Clay Mill Pottery Studio has grown into a vibrant creative place for people who want to explore pottery and ceramics in a relaxed and welcoming space.
Our mission is simple:
To build a supportive community of potters and makers, one pot at a time.
We believe that learning pottery offers more than just a skill and can make the world feel a little kinder. It gives people a space to slow down, connect and find joy in making something with their hands.
A Pottery Studio for everyone
Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced ceramicist, The Clay Mill studio offers the ideal environment to:

We gently support and guide new potters through those early stages, with plenty of encouragement to help you find your feet - and your style - whilst helping build confidence and spark creativity.

Expert Teaching & Support
Feeling unsure? You’re in safe hands. Our tutors are highly skilled, with degrees in ceramics and many years of hands-on pottery and teaching experience. From learning how to throw on the wheel, to hand-building, glazing, and understanding studio safety - we’ll guide you every step of the way.
